Heladopters

maple seedsWhen Jay was about 2 years old*, he used to call helicopters "heladopters".

We have been attacked by maple seeds unlike any other year in my memory. They have covered our driveway almost inches thick. Sometimes the air has been so thick with them it was almost
like green snow.

*Jay is now 14. Where did the time go?

Apparently I called them helicolepters - a word I still use now and which my kids have picked up on.

That's a lot of maple seeds. Those trees are weeds, I tell ya. Pretty ones, though.

Hi, Paul.

I did- and still do sometimes- call them Hollycopters!
One word, so many variations.
And as to where the time goes- if you ever find out let me know! It's a mystery.
