Kenya: the latest death toll raises to nearly 800

"We have moved out to revenge the deaths of our brothers and sisters who have been killed, and nothing will stop us," said Anthony Mwangi, hefting a club threateningly. "For every one Kikuyu killed, we shall avenge their killing with three." (AP)

Is there anything we should do as Americans besides pray, Paul? Yes, the scale is smaller, but I am sickened that I wasn't even aware of the Rwandan genocide when it was happening. Sure, I was much younger, but the movies I've watched (Hotel Rwanda, Sometimes in April) and other editorial type material about that country's tragedy make me wonder what we could/should have done differently then.

Thanks, Paul. I've posted some things about the Kenya crisis on my blog over the last couple of weeks. In one post, In the Midst of Chaos and Suffering..., I mentioned one way that folks can help:

The International Mission Board, SBC maintains a fund for Human Needs Ministries from which it draws in situations like this. Help is given regardless of religion or tribe and 100% of the contributions go to providing help because the programs overseas are administered by missionaries and Baptist relief workers. Read about that here -- IMB Human Needs Ministries. If you want to give, you could designate your gift for Kenya disaster relief.

Without a doubt, other organizations also have ways to give.
